CEMUSA wins street furniture contract in Pamplona

  • The contract includes an automated bicycle hire service

Pamplona City Government has awarded FCC subsidiary Cemusa, a leading street furniture and outdoor advertising company, the contract to supply and exploit an automated bicycle hire service and a number of information and advertising panels for an initial period of 12 years.

The contract, in which Cemusa competed with the leading players in the industry, is particularly important as it is the company's first concession in Navarra and Pamplona is also the first city to implement Cemusa's proprietary bicycle hire system.

The first phase envisages installing five rental stations with a total of 100 bicycles, rising to 350 bicycles and 20 stations in the second phase.

The contract includes installing 50 "oppi" type advertising panels, 40 time+temperature panels, 3 electronic panels, 50 advertising hoardings and 29 free expression boards.

Cemusa, integrated into FCC's services subsidiary Versia, has been operating in the street furniture and outdoor advertising business since 1984. It currently manages the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of over 160,000 items of street furniture in 160 cities in 13 countries, including New York, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Lisbon and Madrid.

In 2006, Cemusa's revenues amounted to 119 million euro, a 27% increase on 2005.
