Inca City Council in Mallorca (Balearic Islands) places its trust once again in FCC Environment for its household waste collection service

Inca City Council in Mallorca has awarded to a joint venture led by a subsidiary of FCC Medio Ambiente (the Spanish brand for FCC Environment) the household waste collection for the next eight years. With this decision, FCC will continue to collect refuse from the Mallorcan municipality of Inca, as it has done since 2006. The total value of the contract amounts to more than 12.2 million euros.

To serve Inca’s nearly 31,000 inhabitants and collect almost 40 tons of waste per day, FCC will have a workforce of 16 people and various innovative equipment adapted to the specific needs of the area, among which stands out the implementation of electric mobility with two electric tractor chassis. Two 19 m3 side-loading collection vehicles will also be available; three 7 m3 rear loading waste collectors; two container-washing vehicles; a roll-on/off vehicle with a hot water pressure washer mounted on a container; a vehicle for collecting bulky items; a mobile Civic Amenity Site Citroën Jumper vehicle with containers and ramp; and the two aforementioned electric tractor chassis, which are expected to transport the platforms to serve the eight mobile green recycling points that will be placed periodically to attend to houses bigger than 16 dwellings.

As new features in the starting contract, the company has signed an agreement with an NGO that works for social integration or disfavoured people, in order to manage the recycling centre facility and several awareness campaigns will be carried out, with an annual budget of 80,000 euros.

In addition, FCC will implement a door-to-door refuse collection system using bag-hanging posts.
