Logroño City Council places its trust once again in FCC Environment and extends its street cleaning and waste collection contract for 8 more years

Logroño City Council has extended by 8 years the contract for street cleaning, collection of diverse sorts of waste, landfill post-closure maintenance and other services, that was awarded to FCC Medio Ambiente (the Spanish brand for FCC Environment), in a joint venture shared 50% with another company in the sector. The contract began in 2003 and the extension, which is worth more than €89 million, means that FCC will continue to provide services to the city until September 2027.

A staff of more than 200 people will be available and all the mechanical equipment will be renewed to meet the contract’s demands. The number of collection vehicles has gone from 20 to 24 units. Although the cleaning fleet has been renewed, it contains the same number of units: 15 different items of equipment, such as mechanical sweepers, mechanical street washers, scrubbers and graffiti cleaning equipment, and 16 van-type or lightweight auxiliary vehicles. A large proportion of the material will be powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines and two electric auxiliary vehicles will be incorporated, which represents a significant reduction in the level of polluting emissions when performing the services.
