The Oviedo City Council chooses FCC to provide city sanitation services

The Oviedo City Council has chosen Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A. (FCC) to provide city sanitation services for the next 10 years, with the possibility of an additional 10-year extension. The estimated revenues total 330 million euros.

· Street cleaning services

· Collection and transport of solid urban waste

· Management of solid urban waste transfer station

· Management of vehicle removal services

· Management of technical documentation services and execution of work in subsidiary execution proceedings.

A staff of 370 people will be needed to provide these services along with an investment of nearly 12 million euros, primarily for the purchase of garbage trucks powered by compressed natural gas engines with very low atmospheric and noise pollution levels.

FCC has been providing city sanitation services in Oviedo since 1968.

In the year 2004, FCC?s revenues from city sanitation totalled 1,251 million euros, serving a population of 24.5 million inhabitants residing in 3,299 cities and towns. 7.5 million tons of trash are collected and 6.5 million tons are treated each year.
