FCC appoints new independent directors

On 18 July, the Board of Directors of FCC, chaired by Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, accepted the resignations of directors Antonio Pérez Colmenero, Javier Rivas and Nicolás Redondo Terreros, and appointed Olivier Orsini, Gustavo Villapalos Salas and Gonzalo Rodríguez Mourullo, all of them independent directors, by co-optation.

Olivier Orsini has been chairman of Proactiva since December 2002. In June, FCC sold Veolia its 50% stake in Proactiva, of which Veolia is a founding partner. Until April 2012, Orsini was general secretary of Veolia Environnement, the world's leading environmental services company, where he has spent most of his career. He holds a degree in Applied Economics and a diploma from the École Supérieure de Commerce in Paris, and has extensive international experience in environmental services and infrastructure management.

Gustavo Villapalos Salas has a PhD in Law and is a professor of History of Law at Madrid's Complutense University, where he was also Chancellor from 1987 to 1995. He was Minister for Education, Culture and Sport in the Madrid regional government from 1995 to 2001. He holds honorary degrees from more than 20 universities around the world, and he is Chairman of the OSCE's Sub-Committee on Human Rights as well as a member of the UNESCO advisory committee on cultural heritage and of Spain's Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation.

Gonzalo Rodríguez Mourullo holds a PhD in Law from the University of Santiago. He is currently professor emeritus at the Autonomous University of Madrid and a full member of Spain's Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation. He was awarded the Castelao Medal, Galicia's highest honour, for his contribution to the field of law. He has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1962.
