FCC's Board of Directors to ask the General Shareholders' Meeting to appoint Henri Proglio as a director

FCC's Board of Directors will ask the General Shareholders' Meeting, scheduled for 27 May, to appoint Henri Proglio as director. Henri Proglio, current Chairman of Electricité de France (EDF), the leading electric utility in Europe, recently stepped down as CEO of Veolia Environnement and is due to step down as Chairman of its Board of Directors at the end of 2010.

Proglio graduated from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris and is a Commander of the National Order of Merit of the Legion of Honour. He was appointed Chairman and CEO of EDF in November 2009. He was CEO of Veolia Environnement from May 2004 to November 2009. When Proglio was appointed to head EDF, he resigned as CEO of Veolia Environnement but remains Chairman of its Board of Directors, a post he is scheduled to leave at the end of 2010 so as to focus entirely on EDF.

The Board of Directors of FCC values his extensive experience in the environmental services sector and his commitment to international expansion. Proglio began his career in Compagnie Générale des Eaux (GDE) 37 years ago and joined its executive committee in 1991. GDE became Vivendi and finally Veolia Environnement, which operates in 72 countries and reported revenue of 34.6 billion euro in 2009. Proglio was an executive in all those companies until his appointment as Chairman and CEO of Veolia.

His experience aligns with FCC's strategy in both services and international diversification. Specifically, 44% of the group's revenues are obtained outside Spain.
