FCC extends city sanitation contract for Cartagena through 2020

The Cartagena City Council has extended the city sanitation contract with Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A. (FCC) for 10 years, bringing the business generated by the new contract to a total of 210 million euros.

FCC provides the following services in Cartagena:

. Collection of organic waste.

. Collection of lightweight containers and paper/cardboard.

. Street cleaning.

. Beach cleaning.

. Operation of waste treatment plant.

The concession was originally to end in 2010 but has now been extended to the year 2020.

The company will invest 24 million euros in environmental betterments at the waste treatment plant.
