Miguel Jurado, Chairman of FCC Construcción, and Jesús Mateos, Manager of Technical Services, accepted the award at an event held at La Casa de América.

SAMCEW© (Sustainability Assessment Method for Civil Engineering Works) is a self-assessment and rating system, entirely developed by FCC Construcción, which can be used on works as a management programme to plan construction works, identify necessary improvements and to share advances in applied sustainability practices.

Miguel Jurado, Chairman of FCC Construcción, said: "At FCC, we are committed to environmental, risk prevention and integrated quality policies in the value chain. We are also committed to innovation and to developing and caring for our professionals and the communities in which we work.”

The methodology of the SAMCEW initiative considers the environmental, social and economic factors of the sustainability model at all stages of the life cycle of civil work projects.

The application is arranged into the following fifteen categories: management projects, land planning, life cycle costs, externalities, local economy effects, participation and acceptation, cultural heritage, wellbeing, social effects, risk and resilience, ecosystem and biodiversity, natural resource use, waste, emissions into the environment, noise and vibrations.

FCC Construcción continuously works on optimising the sustainability of infrastructures that it develops. With our projects and strategies, we foster the sustainable development of the societies in which we work, generating added value for our stakeholders and the local communities with which we interact.
