Miguel Jurado, Chairman of FCC Construcción, and Jesús Mateos, Manager of Technical Services, accepted the award at an event held at La Casa de América.

SAMCEW© (Sustainability Assessment Method for Civil Engineering Works) is a self-assessment and rating system, entirely developed by FCC Construcción, which can be used on works as a management programme to plan construction works, identify necessary improvements and to share advances in applied sustainability practices.

The methodology of the SAMCEW initiative considers the environmental, social and economic factors of the sustainability model at all stages of the life cycle of civil work projects.

The application is arranged into the following fifteen categories: management projects, land planning, life cycle costs, externalities, local economy effects, participation and acceptation, cultural heritage, wellbeing, social effects, risk and resilience, ecosystem and biodiversity, natural resource use, waste, emissions into the environment, noise and vibrations.
