The FCC Group, through its Central American subsidiary, Corporación M&S, has signed a five-year agreement to perform the extraction and transport of materials from the Cerro Mojón open-cast mine in Nicaragua.

The contract, valued at 8.1 million euros, includes loading, transporting and forming dump sites with the sterile materials generated during the mining operations, as well as the removal of the lixiviated materials produced. The company will assign a staff of 350 people to perform these tasks.

The operation will include a treatment plant with the ability to process 150,000 tones of dry mineral per month.

The monthly volume of land movement is 900,000 tons. The mine has estimated reserves of 61,150 kg of gold, which represents an operating horizon of seven years.

The owner of the mining operation is DESMINIC, Empresa de Desarrollo Minero Nicaragüense, owned by the Canadian mining multinational RNC.
