FCC Wins a Costa Rican Road Concession

The contract for a 25-year Costa Rican road concession has gone to a consortium in which FCC is a partner (35%) together with Sacyr (35%), FCC's Central-American subsidiary Corporación M&S (13%) and Soares da Costa (17%). The project, entitled San José-Caldera, is 76.8 kilometres long and will involve an investment of some 145 million euros.

The road is divided into three sections:

. San José-Ciudad Colón, a 14.2-kilometre-long, two-lane section, which will be improved with the addition of a third lane in each direction in some sections.

. Ciudad Colón-Orotina, a 38.8-kilometre-long section to be built from scratch, with one lane in each direction. Three major structures have already been executed.

. Orotina-Caldera, which currently has one lane in each direction and will be refurbished and improved throughout its whole length.
