FCC obtains the design and construction contract for the expansion project of the Jorge Chavez international airport (Peru)

The consortium formed by the companies FCC Construccion, Salini Impregilo and Aecom as designer, has been selected for the development of the design and construction contract for the expansion project of the new international airport "Jorge Chavez" in Lima (Peru). After an exhaustive process of prequalification and competition that lasted nine months and brought together renowned international companies experts in airport construction worldwide, the client Lima Airport Partners (LAP) awarded the contract to the Amancae consortium, led by FCC Construccion.

The expansion project of the Jorge Chávez International Airport includes the design, construction of an airstrip, a new terminal of Jorge Chávez International Airport along with its contact and remote platform for aircraft, urbanization works and access to a business complex with new logistics areas and warehouses, parking areas, a building for facilities and power plant, a new control tower and a building for a fire station. All this will mean an increase in operational capacity, given that the extension of the airport will go from two to nine million square meters and thus meet a demand of more than 30 million passengers per year. When the project ends, the new airport infrastructure will be the largest and most modern in the region, thus reinforcing the development and integration of the economic and business sector in Callao (Peru).

With the award of this contract, a series of preliminary works will be initiated prior to the main work, including environmental remediation, topographic works and detailed geotechnical tests, installation of construction offices, etc. All with the main objective of implementing an infrastructure that will benefit millions of users and contribute to the development of the country.

FCC Construccion has executed highly complex international airport works, such as the T-1 Passenger Terminal at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, the third runway at Madrid-Barajas Airport, the new T4 passenger terminal at Madrid-Barajas Airport , the new passenger terminal of Riga airport (Latvia), and the Control Tower of El Dorado airport in Colombia. Currently, the construction area of the FCC Group executes the new airport terminal in Mexico, which is the second airport in execution worldwide and the largest infrastructure project in Latin America. When it finishes its execution it will be used by 125 million passengers a year with 342 thousand passengers a day.
