FCC Environment participates in the World Waste to Energy City Summit 2016

On 10 – 11 May, FCC Environment participated in the World Waste to Energy City Summit 2016, held in London. The event brought together  the most renowned international experts in the field of waste to energy management.

The attendance of the Citizen Services Group at the summit reflects how strategic is the waste to energy business to FCC’s  environmental services area. 

FCC Environment held an information stand and participated in several activities during the summit. At the opening session, Carlos Afonso, Corporate Development and Concessions Manager at FCC Environment, explained the main access opportunities into the international markets for the sector, pointing out the features of the developed markets compared with those of the developing ones. The following day, Paul Taylor, CEO of FCC Environment UK, spoke during a debate with other British CEOs. In the debate, aspects relating to the circular economy and the reliability of certain Advanced Conversion Technologies (ACT) were discussed. Furthermore, Javier Cerezo, Technical Manager of FCC Environment, hosted a roundtable of experts and managers, who discussed factors to be considered on future projects, as well as his reflections on previous  experiences.

The summit was attended by political authorities, senior executives, developers, banks, investment funds, technology providers and end-users. The current state of the sector was analysed during different seminars and scheduled debates. Furthermore, the future of the industry in the technological innovation, political and economic fields were discussed in local, European and global contexts.
