The mixed company Gamasur has begun to operate the industrial waste treatment plant in Gamasur Campo de Gibraltar, situated in the townland of Los Barrios (Cádiz), inside the Southern Europe Environment Complex.

Gamasur is formed by Ámbito, a name grouping FCC activities in the handling of industrial waste, with an 85% share, and Gama, a municipal company belonging to Los Barrios (Cádiz) town council, with 15%.

The centre has a treatment capacity of over 50,000 tonnes a year and will be used to handle hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste produced by factories in the area.

The treatment plant is built on an 85,000 m2 lot and has three treatment lines. The dump for stable non-reactive hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste occupies some 66,000 m2.

The new installations avail of an environmental laboratory equipped with all the technical means required by law. Furthermore, it is the first waste treatment plant in Andalusia having Full Environmental Authorization.
