Trash collection in Libertador, Caracas

Proactiva Medio Ambiente, the company owned 50%-50% by FCC and Veolia Environnement, has renewed a trash collection contract for the 12 parishes in the municipality of Libertador, Caracas for another 10 years. The population served is close to 700,000, slightly more than one-third of the municipality's total.

The company will have a staff of 384 people working 51 daytime and 25 night time routes and will collect an average of 845 tons of trash per day.

The total income is expected to be 110 million euros and will require an investment of 11.5 million euros.

One of the innovative aspects of this contract is the collection of rubble, pathological waste, lawn and garden waste, the collection of dead animals and the deployment of new, high technology equipment which will optimise service efficiency, jointly and in coordination with the Municipal Services Corporation and the local authorities.
