Proactiva Medio Ambiente (50% FCC - 50% Veolia) has been awarded a contract for SUW collection, glass and paper recycling, collection of yard waste, transfer of waste to dumps and public street and road cleaning for the municipality of Baruta (residential neighbourhood outside Caracas) for a period of ten years.

The area in question has a population of 350,000 people. Some 430 tons of waste will be collected per day. A transfer centre will be built with a capacity of 500 tm/day.

The contract is valued at 65 million dollars and will require an investment of 7 million.
