FCC feels that it is a part of the societies in which it operates. Each year, it devotes time, attention and funds to this aspiration and commitment.
One of the most outstanding projects in the Group's social responsibility programme this year was the presentation of the ''FCC volunteers'' programme to the employees.
Corporate Volunteer Programme
The corporate volunteer programme aims to enable employees and their family members to collaborate on projects which provide aid to underprivileged groups.
It seeks to raise awareness about the advantages of corporate citizenship projects and encourage other employees to participate, supporting the company's goal of creating value for society and contributing to people's well-being.
The programme aims to:
-Enable as many FCC Group employees as possible to volunteer for social action projects.
-Disseminate the significance, implications and benefits of the CSR policy within the company.
-Increase the feeling of belonging within the company through collaboration among employees from FCC Group's various business areas.
In 2008, the team managing the Corporate Volunteer Programme organised informative talks in FCC offices in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona; the Group's General Secretary was among the attendees.
Information about the programme is available in FCC Group's CSR Report and on its web site, on the intranet, in its bi-monthly internal bulletin and in various articles published in CSR journals.
The programme was selected by the Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad for inclusion in its catalogue of best practices in CSR.
During the programme's first year, the volunteers organised the following activities:
. Walks/companionship.
. Birthday parties.
. Painting workshop.
. Drama, magic and music performances.
. Bullfighting workshop.
. Christmas party.
. Seminars on popular culture.
. Visit to the Manises airport.
. Installation of a Scalextric track at the home in Barcelona.
2009 Objectives
. Organise new activities, such as mountain walks.
. Launch a volunteer website (already in the design phase).
. Enable more employees and family members to participate and reach a greater number of disadvantaged groups.
. Extend the scope of the programme to include employees from other regions in Spain and in other countries where FCC operates.
. Collaborate with NGOs so as to offer employees a wider range of projects in which to participate.
