FCC manages five waste recovery plants: two in the United Kingdom, one in Austria and two in Spain (Bilbao and Palma de Mallorca).

These all comprise a plant that generates electricity by incinerating waste and a plant for recycling materials.

These plants have a total treatment capacity of 1.8 million tonnes of waste per year.

Introduction of electric vehicles

FCC introduced electric vehicles into its fleet in 2009 in order to provide urban services in both Spain and the other countries in which it operates.

In Barcelona alone it has 89 tipping-body trucks for street cleaning and 15 collection vehicles. This means that around 40% of FCC's vehicles in service are electric.

FCC currently has a total fleet of more than 252 electric vehicles, which reduce the pollution emitted each year.
