Aqualia and its firm commitment to sustainable sanitation: Interdependent elements for our future Aqualia supports the call for the European Union to enshrine the human right to water and sanitation in EU legislation. Aqualia was one of the organiza- tions that last 21 October signed an appeal for the European Union (EU) to guarantee better access to sanitation for the 10 million Euro- peans that still lack decent sanita- tion services. The petition aims to have the hu- man right to water and sanitation enshrined in EU law. In addition, stakeholders have stressed that universal access to safe and digni- fied sanitation services is a funda - mental need since, with the health crisis caused by COVID-19, the importance of water and hygiene in protecting human health from pandemics has become even more evident.
