The importance of the future sus- tainability of cities FCC is a leader in designing the sus- tainable cities of the future. This in- cludes actions and initiatives to de- velop new abilities in the company, aimed at creating more sustainable solutions, providing more ener- gy-efficient and less resource-con - suming services, and incorporating value added innovations to the ser- vices provided by the company. This axis, therefore, deals with projects on the circular economy, the Clima- te Change Strategy, water impact and the protection of biodiversity, among other things. According to a new report published by the United Nations in June 2019, the world population is expected to increase by 2 billion people, from 7.7 billion today to 9.7 billion by 2050. Furthermore, it mentions that, cu- rrently, 4.5 billion people, that is, 55% of the world’s population, live in cities and the urban population is expected to reach 6.5 billion by 2050. In this scenario, sustainable development and new technologies will be the main vector to adapt the conception and planning of cities to this growth model.
