R E S P O N S I B I L I T Y 40 R E S P O N S I B I L I T Y Technology at the service of sustainability in digital railway infrastructures, developed by FCC Construcción Sustainability in the exercise of its activity through the work it carries out continues to form part of FCC Construcción’s commitment to the environment and the communities where it operates. As a pioneer in innovation, the company is currently developing the Digital Railway Infras- tructures project as part of the work to lower platforms for the dual train of the Tram D’Alacant network in the province of Alicante, specifically at Benidorm station and at the Marina Baixa La Vila Joiosa Hospital halt. This involves the implementation of a plan to improve the energy efficiency of the station’s lighting system and consequently reduce electricity con- sumption, while protecting the envi- ronment. On the other hand, and in an inclusi- ve manner, the project contemplates the adaptation of the platforms, the- reby increasing the station’s capaci- ty, guaranteeing basic accessibility conditions and non-discrimination for people with disabilities, among other improvements. In this sense, the visibility and safety conditions at the pedestrian crossings on the trac- ks will also be improved. Likewise, improvements in the working condi- tions of the station employees and the construction of a warehouse for the supervision, repair and cleaning of trains are also envisaged.
