FCC Environment with Ukraine DAY IN MADRID DAY IN BARCELONA FCC Medio Ambiente has held a Day of Solidarity and Commitment to Ukraine at its corporate head- quarters in Las Tablas, Madrid. This event also marks the culmination of the initiative to reserve jobs and hire refugees from Ukraine in our coun- try, which the company launched in March 2022. The day included an exhibition of photographs of the reception of the material in Ivankiv, a Ukrainian town north of Kiev and close to the bor- der with Belarus, and a round table to continue the work of raising awa- reness of the situation of Ukrainian refugees and the current war. Taking part in the round table were Yana Miseen and Valentyna Kono- patska, two Ukrainian refugee co- lleagues from FCC Medio Ambiente who joined as a result of its refugee recruitment campaign; Dr. Cecilia Estrada, director of the Chair of Re- fugees and Forced Migrants at Co- millas Pontifical University; Jorge Travesedo, head of the collaborating charity Es Per Tu; and Luis Suárez, FCC Medio Ambiente’s human re- sources manager. In Barcelona, a day of solidarity with Ukraine was also held, consisting of a round table and a photographic exhibi- tion at the Palau Dalmases (C/ Mont- cada, 20), as part of the campaign developed among the company’s em- ployees to collect basic necessities for those affected by the war in Ukraine and its delivery, in collaboration with the non-profit association ‘Es Per Tu’, of the corresponding packages in the Ukrainian town of Ivankiv. The day served to raise awareness of the situation of Ukrainian refugees and the invasion that persists in that part of Europe. Participants in the meeting included Serhii Prokhorenko, one of the Ukrainian workers hired by FCC Medio Ambiente as part of this campaign, who spoke about his expe- rience in the conflict; Rosa Martín and Julio Fernández of the association Es Per Tu; Albert Martínez, head of the street-cleaning service in Barcelona for FCC Medio Ambiente; and Luis Suárez, director of human resources for the same company. Es Per Tu is a non-profit association that bases its activity on taking in chil- dren who live in radiation-contamina- ted areas in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The improvement of their health is what dri- ves the association to promote foste- ring, which is always carried out during the summer or Christmas periods. Cu- rrently, Es Per Tu is dedicated to provi- ding basic necessities to Ukrainian fa- milies affected by the terrible situation caused by the invasion of Ukraine. The aim of these two days, which cul- minate in the aforementioned support campaigns, was to demonstrate to the company’s staff, who have shown P E O P L E 30 P E O P L E
