Agbar and FCC - leading business groups in the Spanish environmental sector - have joined together to implement a project that will create the first Environmental Portal on the Internet. Total investment in the project is 2,500 million pesetas.

This Portal will be the first market place for the environment and a new business platform for different interests in the environmental sector. It will be a point for suppliers, sellers and manufacturers to meet with clients and buyers, generating a transaction zone that will allow for an exchange of information and services among people, companies, administrations, professional groups and citizens - thereby bringing the different actors of this market together.

This joint Agbar-FCC initiative arises from the commitment of both organizations to make environmental protection values known and to reaffirm their financial backing of new technologies. Total estimated investment in the project is over 2,500 million pesetas in the medium term. These funds will be available at the end of this year.

The Internet services and consulting firms Netjuice Network and AGM will mutually develop this Portal, which is destined to become the model platform for the environmental sector in Spain and Latin America.

Both organizations are currently working on creating Portal content with special emphasis on issues pertaining to environmental training, education and awareness. They are also considering indicators that show the most significant trends in the environmental sector and legislative requirements on wastewater purification as well waste collection and treatment. The Portal will include discussion forums and lists of experts in the environmental sector.
