FCC donates more than 15 tonnes of food and other essential products to the Banco de Alimentos

FCC employees from the various regional offices throughout Spain have donated more than 15 tonnes of non-perishable foods, other essential items and hygiene products to the Banco de Alimentos (Spanish Food Bank charity) as part of the outreach campaign "Operation Kilo".

This social action, promoted by the Citizen Service Group in collaboration with the charitable organisation Banco de Alimentos, was carried out between 16 and 20 March, during which FCC employees voluntarily donated products such as baby formula, cereals, pulses, canned foods, rice, pasta, nappies, etc.

The donated products were delivered to different food banks belonging to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), which has fifty centres that are responsible for distributing food amongst the most vulnerable families and people in Spain.

The work carried out by FCC volunteers has been instrumental for the execution of "Operation Kilo", given that the collaborators wanted to take part by not only contributing food items, but also by delivering them to the regional offices of the Banco de Alimentos in other cities.

The fundamental work carried out by FESBAL has been awarded with the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord for its active contribution towards the fight against hunger.

FCC, stemming from its social commitment, wanted to support this solidarity initiative which aims to raise awareness of the shortages in our environment and to help those most in need.
