FCC submits best bid for construction of line 2 of the Panama Metro

  • The Citizen Services Group, in consortium with the construction company Norberto Odebrecht, obtains the highest score: 855 points out of 1,000

FCC submits best bid for construction of line 2 of the Panama Metro

FCC in consortium with the Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht, S.A, submitted the winning bid for the construction of line 2 of the Panama Metro, as announced by the Panama Metro Secretariat in an event held last Thursday

Awarding will be made official on 22 May when the period for potential claims from applicants, set by the Metro Secretariat, comes to an end.

In the public bidding process for the best bid with separate evaluation, the consortium FCC- Odebrecht submitted an economic proposal for the sum of 1.65 billion euros and obtained a total score of 855.98 out of a possible 1,000.

More specifically, the bid was for 1.858 billion dollars (around 1.65 billion euros) against a reference price of 1.818654 billion dollars (over 1.61 billion euros) fixed by the Metro Secretariat. The bidding exclusion range was fixed at 20% both above and below.

The contract for the construction of Line 2 of the Panama Metro consists of design engineering services, construction of civil works, secondary installations of the line, supply and installation of the comprehensive railway system that includes rolling stock and initial commissioning of the line.

The works will include 16 stations and 21 kilometres of elevated railway lines, connecting the stations from the district of San Miguelito to 24 de Diciembre.

This project will benefit approximately half a million people in the eastern Panama district.

FCC has extensive experience with metros, having already built line 1 in Panama and currently participating in lines 4, 5 and 6 of the Riyadh Metro, the red line of the Doha Metro, line 2 of the Lima Metro and those in Toronto and Bucharest, to name but a few.
