Handling License for Brussels Airport

The Board of Directors of the Brussels Airport (BIAC) has awarded the company Belgian Ground Services (BGS), a member of the FCC Group, its first ramp and passenger handling license for a seven-year tem. The new contract takes effect on 1 November 2004.

It is estimated that the revenues for the contractual period will exceed 700 million euros. The service will be rendered by a staff of 1,500 employees.

In 2002, BGS acquired the handling assets of the former SABENA airline, which included the handling license through 31 October 2004.

Over the last two years the service has been rendered to the satisfaction of both the provider company, BGS, and the Brussels airport. Quality levels have improved notably and relations with labor unions have been stable.

The FCC Group is the leading handling operator in Spain and third in the European Union. It plans to extend its activities to Eastern European and Mediterranean arch countries.
