Barcelona Metro Line 9

The Board of Directors of Gestió d'Infraestructures (GISA), the Catalonian regional government's public company in charge of infrastructure management, has awarded a joint venture led by FCC the 131.1-million-euro contract to build the last section of line 9 of the Barcelona metro system. Line 9 will connect the Barcelona airport with the Mas Blau business center.

The section in question is approximately 3.1 kilometers long, and 2.85 kilometers of that length will built using a tunnel-boring machine that will dig out a tunnel 9.28 meters in diameter and install 35-centimeter-thick arch stones, working below the water table.

This section will have three stations, one in the future terminal between runways at the airport, a second station at the present-day terminal, and the third station in Mas Blau.

FCC is also involved as a partner in the building of the adjacent section of line 9 and the new terminal between airport runways.
