FCC press release on the windsor building

1. FCC Construcción had absolutely no involvement in the fire that destroyed the Windsor building.

2. In August 2003 the building owners, Ason Inmobiliaria, engaged FCC to do part of the remodelling work, which basically consisted of:

  • Building a staircase on the outside of the building for evacuation purposes; enlarging the 27th and 28th floors, building a new auxiliary structure on 1st and 2nd floor facades and minor work in basements and lobbies.
  • The rest of the remodelling work was arranged by Ason Inmobiliaria directly with other installation and industrial companies.

3. From the time the work started through 7th February, FCC Construcción only worked on the inside of eight floors of the building and never on the 21st floor where the fire started. During that time, the building continued to be used by the tenants.

4. Starting on 7 February, the company was working exclusively in the parking area on underground level 5 and on the outside of the 1st and 2nd floors. On Saturday, 12 February, FCC Construcción employees finished working at 1:00 p.m.

5. The crane sitting atop the building has been leased to the owners at their request since August 2004, once it was no longer needed by FCC, to be used by other companies engaged directly by Ason Inmobiliaria.
