New access to the harbour of Seville

The Port Authority of Seville has awarded to FCC Construcción the works of the new access to the harbour of Seville (Phase I Floodgate), with an amount of 166,6 millons of euro, in a joint-venture with a local company and a dredging specialist.

Works are consisting in the execution of a new floodgate of 434 m long, with capacity for lodging tugged vessels. The lock gates are of 42 m wide, 20,3 m high and 6 m thick and the distance between the interior faces of the gates are of 253 m. Two auxiliary sheetpiles wharfs of 173 m of length will be built and the navigation channel will be extended from height -9 downstream and -7,70 upstream. Three mobile bridges are also included, two road bridges of 44 length and 30 m width and a railway bridge of the same length and 9,10 m of width, with rotating decks around an horizontal axis coinciding with the supports líne, allowing the traffic transversally to the riverbed. The works of this complex Project will be completed with a control building, offices, machinery, workshop and warehouses, exterior Works and electromecanichal installations.

The mot important amounts of the works are: 19.000 Tn of steel for reinforcements , 280.000 m3 of concrete, 3.400 Tn of structural steel , 5.000 Tn of sheetpiles and 3.300.000 m3 will be dedged in different tipes of soils. The tendered Works delay has been 36 months of a maximum of 48.
