The Board of Directors approves the Sustainability Report 2023 on the FCC Group's environmental, social and governance performance

The FCC Group has published its 2023 Sustainability Report, approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting on 27 February 2024, which contains FCC's Non-Financial Information Statement and the results of the European Union's Environmental Taxonomy.

The Report has been verified by AENOR and prepared in accordance with the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). It also includes the 2023 double materiality analysis in accordance with the new European requirements, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), a study on the impacts, risks and opportunities that have identified the most relevant and outstanding issues for the FCC Group in the area of sustainability.

Initiated with a letter of presentation from the CEO, Pablo Colio Abril, the document responds to the development of the management, activities, progress and commitments, in terms of sustainability for the 2023 financial year, of the Group and its business areas.

At FCC, sustainability performance, under the framework of the Sustainability Policy, is led by the company's highest governing bodies, the Board of Directors and the Audit and Control Committee, to which the Group's Sustainability Committee reports.

With regard to environmental achievements and challenges, the Report sets out the metrics and main measures adopted by the Group in climate action, water resources, biodiversity, circular economy and the use of resources. It should be noted that, in 2023, 82.7% of the activity was certified by ISO 14001 environmental management systems; that the economic resources dedicated to the prevention of environmental risks have been increased, with more than 100 million euros having been allocated, and that a new procedure for analysing climate risks and opportunities has been developed for all activities.

With regard to performance in labour matters and people management, the Report includes the main lines of action that promote talent management, diversity, equality, health and well-being in a workforce of over 67,000 employees in 38 countries, 84% of whom have permanent contracts. In 2023, the FCC Group provided more than 700,000 hours of training, 100,000 hours more than last year; the number of disabled people hired continued to increase, with more than 3% of the workforce being disabled, and as regards the evolution of workplace accident indicators, the number of work-related accidents with sick leave and the frequency and severity rates have been reduced.

With regard to the FCC Group's commitment to generate a significant impact on the social, economic and environmental surroundings of communities, the company materialises its contribution through different lines of action based on the creation of value, knowledge, integration and solidarity action. In addition, financial contributions are made to sponsorships and collaborations with non-profit organisations, foundations and sector associations, having exceeded 5.5 million euros in 2023 for these purposes.

Good governance at FCC, based on the principles of sustainability, ethics and business integrity, is developed in the Report through the reporting of a consolidated Compliance Model; the unwavering commitment to respect and protection of Human Rights; the transparent management of the company's tax strategy; and the presentation of the risk management systems, cybersecurity and data protection. For yet another year, the FCC Group has also published the Corporate Governance Report, which includes detailed information on the structure, practices and monitoring of the recommendations of the Good Governance Code.

Furthermore, in the FCC Group's comprehensive commitment to sustainability, the Report includes the company's progress in innovation, with an investment of more than 13.5 million euros in R&D&I; interaction with stakeholders through various communication channels and effective dialogue tools; and the implementation of due diligence processes in the supply chain, considering that at the end of 2023, the FCC Group has relations with 46,102 suppliers.
