FCC enters the glass recycling business

  • It has acquired the Gonzalo Mateo group of companies

FCC has entered the glass recycling business by acquiring the Gonzalo Mateo group for 20 million euro.

It has acquired two companies,  Gonzalo Mateo and Cristales Molidos, which will be incorporated into Ámbito, FCC's industrial waste management division.

The Gonzalo Mateo group processes 100,000 tonnes of consumer and industrial glass waste per year at its three plants in Aragón and Valencia; it is expected to report 12.5 million euro in revenues this year.

Ámbito (annual revenues: 163 million euro) is the company grouping the FCC companies that specialise in managing industrial waste, both non-hazardous and hazardous, as well as industrial cleaning and soil decontamination.

Ámbito is the largest industrial waste manager in Spain in terms of the number of plants: 48.

In 2006, it processed 1.795 billion tonnes of waste, 42.5% more than in 2005.

Ámbito is also active in paper recycling since the acquisition of Marepa in 2006.
