The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has authorised the logistics company AITENA, an FCC subsidiary specialising in the distribution of consumer products, to act as a marketing laboratory and secondary medication preparer.

The approval is the culmination of a process that permits the company to provide logistical services to pharmaceutical laboratories. To do so, it will be using specially adapted facilities in the province of Guadalajara which meet the most stringent climatisation, security and logistical reliability requirements.

It already operates a similar facility in Portugal, making it the leader in that segment of the Portuguese market.

Its first contract covering the Iberian market will begin in November at the new facilities. The contract was awarded following an international tender process in competition with the sector's most important companies.
