FCC Construcción takes control of Autopista Central Gallega

FCC Construcción, S.A. has acquired from Iniciativas y Servicios, S.A. (Ploder Group) 10% of the shares it possessed in Autopista Central Gallega, as a result of which the FCC subsidiary now controls 54.64% of the motorway.

The toll motorway, which is 57 kilometres long, connects Alto de Santo Domingo in the province of Orense with Santiago de Compostela. The concession ends in 2073.

The 13.5 million euro investment is part of a process undertaken last year by FCC Construcción which focuses on concentrating its stock ownership in infrastructures.

As part of this strategy, last November it purchased from the Abertis Group and the ACS Group their shares in the same motorway which totalled 31%.

It also acquired from Abertis one-third of its shares in the company that holds the administrative concession for the M-45 beltway, N-II section, O'Donnell-N-IV artery. These shares account for 8.33% of the company's share capital which, added to the 25% already held by FCC Construcción, brings the total to 33.3%.

This 14.1 kilometre long section of the M-45 operates under a shadow toll system and the term of the concession is 25 years. In 2004, it had an average daily traffic rate of 64,517 vehicles.

The company also sold to Iberpistas and ACS, in equal parts, its 15.75% minority share in the concession holder of the R-3 and R-5 in Madrid.
