FCC's first Corporate Social Responsibility report certified "in accordance" with GRI standards

The FCC Group's first Corporate Social Responsibility Report has attained certification "in accordance" with the most demanding international standards for sustainability reports, including the AA1000 standard and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines.

As a result, the FCC Group ranks among the leading international companies in transparent reporting and corporate social responsibility.

The report outlines the company's most recent efforts and programmes with respect to corporate responsibility, covering such topics as corporate governance, health and safety, environmental care and ethical conduct at FCC.

The FCC Group is also among the first Spanish companies to have devised a strategic plan for corporate responsibility. The plan was a collective effort which involved compiling and reporting on all the actions taken in this field by FCC's various business units, whose strategies reflect the principles of sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The plan will orient the Group's activities in this area during the 2006-2009 period.

In 2005, the FCC Group continued to pay particular attention to its almost 70,000-strong workforce, implementing programmes to help prevent accidents in all production areas, meeting and enforcing rules and increasing both material and human resources devoted to this purpose.

FCC offers efficient local-scale solutions to citizens' day-to-day needs, and wishes to act with equal rigour in respect of more global problems, by applying its expertise and skills. During this first year of implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, the FCC Group managed to steadily reduce its greenhouse gas emissions in Spain due to investing in energy efficiency, using alternative fuels and improving performance.
