Gérard Ries, nuevo Controller Internacional de FCC.

04/10/2007

Gérard Ries appointed International Controller of FCC.

  • The Spanish group is strengthening its structure in line with its rapid process of internationalization: 36% of revenues in 2007 will have been obtained outside Spain.

FCC has appointed Gérard Ries to the position of International Controller and he will also join the Management Committee of the group, which is controlled by Esther Koplowitz. The appointment strengthens the Group's management structure (in addition to the recent appointment of Víctor Pastor as CFO) in the face of its growing internationalization; 36% of total 2007 revenues will have come from other countries.

A graduate of the prestigious École Polytechnique in Paris, Ries also has an MBA from Institut Superieur des Affaires and has studied at Tokyo's Keio Business School. He speaks French, English, Spanish, German and Japanese.

Gérard Ries joins FCC's senior management with responsibility for enhancing operational oversight of the Group's foreign subsidiaries (in the UK, Austria, France, the US, etc.). He will also play an active role in FCC's international development, in all its facets (strategic, financial, etc.).

Ries has over 25 years of experience in international business: one year in Tokyo, five years at US company Dresser Industries, and five years at McGraw Edison.

Before joining FCC, Gérard Ries held a number of senior management positions at the French Vivendi group over a period of 15 years: he was vice-president for development in the telecommunications area, head of acquisitions in the environment division for the USA and Europe (he handled Vivendi's acquisition of a stake in B-1998), and general manager of Vivendi's real estate division.
