FCC Group tackles the challenges of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In the last few years, a series of events have become important topics for discussion in the agendas of countries across the world: the economic and social scenario, marked by the global population growth trends and unequal distribution of wealth; shortage of natural resources to satisfy the demand of growing economies, or the need to explore new and more efficient energy models, based on renewable sources of energy.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Policy approved by the Board of Directors of FCC on 28 July, 2016, is proof of the Group's interest in becoming one of the parties that tackles the challenges posed in 2015 by the United Nations in its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Two years later, in November 2017, the new CSR Master Plan of the company was approved, based on this CSR Policy. This Plan addresses international sustainability trends and translates them into different corporate initiatives and actions that provide a tangible value to the Group and to each one of its businesses.

In 2016, the United Nations formulated and published the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in response to the global challenges, which group 169 individual goals to provide countries, their citizens and companies with an effective guide to minimise identified social, economic and environmental problems. This set of commitments is marking the global sustainability agenda for 2030 and this is how FCC sees it, working every day to increase its contribution to the attainment of the 17 SDGs.

The trends that have driven the formulation of the SDGs are seen as FCC as the context that must be used to analyse the risks and opportunities for its businesses. The Group is aware of the fact that the commitments and goals are closely tied to the company's strategy. FCC's CSR trajectory and strategy over more than ten years is proof of its commitment to service efficiency; the health, safety and development of its employees; the relationship with the Community (institutional clients and citizens); and the integrity of the employees of FCC and those acting on its behalf every day.
