FCC recognises the effort of the Spanish Red Cross for its work and support to women victims of gender-based violence

For the second year in a row, FCC has recognised and rewarded the effort of different organisations and associations that fight against gender-based violence and protect women victims of this social scourge. In this 2nd Edition, FCC recognised the efforts of the Spanish Red Cross for its work and commitment to help women victims of gender-based violence and in its fight against abuse.

The award-giving ceremony was held yesterday, 25 November, at FCC's corporate headquarters in Las Tablas, Madrid, during the observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Javier Senent, president of the Spanish Red Cross, received the award from David García Núñez, head of Communication at FCC Construcción. Senent thanked FCC for giving them this award on behalf of the organisation, which recognises their work and support to women victims of gender-based violence and the fight against abuse.

The Spanish Red Cross' work and experience in protecting women translates into figures that show the actual situation and brutal impact of this social scourge; 88.7% of women victims of gender-based violence attended by the Red Cross have suffered physical violence; 61.7% have suffered sexual violence; 96% have suffered psychological violence, and 70% have partners who fully control their home's expenses.

The Spanish Red Cross attends more than 20,000 women victims of gender-based violence every year, in 10 provinces, offering different temporary shelters for women and their children, mainly in emergency centres, but also in medium and long-term foster homes.

The Spanish Red Cross is also one of the entities with which FCC works to help women victims of gender-based violence in their professional integration in the company. With this award, FCC wishes to continue strengthening its commitment to and promoting the Spanish Red Cross' effort at the service of society and companies.
