FCC and its business divisions renew their commitment to the Diversity Charter

FCC and its business divisions renew their commitment to the Diversity Charter

A shared commitment to fostering more inclusive and diverse working environments

FCC and its business divisions renew their commitment to the Diversity Charter

The FCC Group and its Environment, Water and Construction business divisions have renewed their commitment to the Diversity Charter in recognition of their equality and inclusion policies and their responsible management of people.

For its part, the Concessions business division has joined this initiative by signing the Diversity Charter for the first time. With this commitment, the Group continues to make progress in integrating diversity as a strategic element of its corporate culture and management model.

Diversity is a key priority for FCC, which actively promotes initiatives designed to foster inclusion, prevent all forms of discrimination and promote working environments in which everyone can fulfil their potential on an equal footing, thereby contributing to the well-being of its staff and the communities in which it operates.

Through this initiative, the Group instils these values in the more than 72,000 staff working across its main areas of activity, which specialise in environmental services, integrated water cycle management, infrastructure construction and the development of concession-based projects. These professionals are key to ensuring the Group is an organisation capable of attracting, developing and retaining talent from diverse backgrounds and circumstances, thereby fostering the contribution of new perspectives, innovative solutions and a greater understanding of the social, cultural and economic environments in which FCC operates.

A commitment that has been in place since 2014

FCC first signed up to the Diversity Charter in July 2014 and, since then, has progressively extended this commitment to all its areas of activity.

The signatory organisations undertake to incorporate into their day-to-day management the ten principles that inspire this initiative, including the promotion of equal opportunities, the building of diverse teams, inclusion in all people management policies, work-life balance, non-discrimination and the extension of these values to employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

These principles are fully aligned with FCC’s Equality and Diversity Policy, which positions diversity and inclusion as cross-cutting elements in all its activities and management processes.

A commitment on a European scale

The Diversity Charter forms part of an initiative promoted by the European Commission through the European Platform for Diversity Charters. In Spain, this initiative is managed by the Fundación Diversidad, an organisation responsible for promoting a voluntary framework that fosters diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination as fundamental values for business and social development.

Commitments to Energy Management, Zero Waste and Universal Accessibility

FCC, the parent company of one of Europe’s leading civic services groups, is an organisation committed to sustainable development and respect for the environment, which promotes the efficient management of resources and the creation of healthy and accessible environments. To achieve this, FCC undertakes the following commitments:

  • To comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and any others to which it subscribes, in particular those relating to the environment and those concerning energy efficiency and the use and consumption of energy, as well as those relating to the DALCO criteria for universal accessibility.
  • To ensure the availability of the information and resources necessary to achieve the objectives and targets for energy efficiency, the prevention and reduction of waste generation, and universal accessibility for all, in order to guarantee equal opportunities in accessing and using the environment in which it operates.
  • To promote the procurement of energy-efficient products and services that minimise impacts on energy and environmental performance and that foster an accessible environment.
  • To support the design of activities that aim to improve energy and environmental performance and promote an accessible environment.
  • To engage users through the necessary training and awareness-raising initiatives to achieve efficient and responsible consumption, the recovery and reduction of waste generated, and improved accessibility.
  • Promote the use of renewable energy and surplus energy, whether generated in-house or by third parties.
  • Improve user satisfaction with the environments in which they carry out their activities.
  • Continuously improve the effectiveness of the Management System by identifying opportunities for improvement, setting objectives and implementing measures that lead the organisation towards excellence.

FCC joins the SDGsForFlag campaign promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain

FCC joins the #SDGsForFlag campaign promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain

FCC joins the #SDGsForFlag campaign promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain

The FCC Group is once again taking part in the #ODSporBandera campaign, organised by the UN Global Compact Spain, which aims to highlight the commitment of businesses, institutions and the public to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to strengthen the collective action needed to accelerate their achievement.

This edition takes on particular significance as the 2030 Agenda enters its decisive phase. With less than four years to go until the deadline set by the United Nations for achieving the SDGs, the campaign calls for efforts to be stepped up and for partnerships to be strengthened to enable progress towards more sustainable, inclusive and resilient development. As the UN Global Compact points out, global challenges relating to climate change, inequalities, the protection of natural resources and shared prosperity require a joint and coordinated response from all sectors of society.

With the aim of publicly reaffirming the value of its commitment to the 2030 Agenda, FCC is joining this international initiative, which brings together organisations from around the world under a single symbol: the SDG flag. This emblem transcends nationalities, sectors and ideologies, representing the shared determination to build a more sustainable future for people and the planet.

The FCC Group, like all its business areas, remains firmly committed to sustainability, driving coordinated action through the Group’s Sustainability Committee. The progress and results achieved in this area are set out annually in the sustainability report, which is approved by the Board of Directors and at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

Furthermore, the FCC Group has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 7 May 2007, the world’s largest initiative on corporate sustainability. Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in 2015, the company has worked to align its corporate management with the Sustainable Development Goals, through which it identifies new business opportunities, improves its relationships with its stakeholders and promotes innovation.

About the UN Global Compact Spain

The UN Global Compact is the United Nations initiative that leads the way in corporate sustainability worldwide. With a global network comprising more than 25,400 participating organisations in over 160 countries, it promotes the integration of the Ten Universal Principles on human rights, labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption, as well as the private sector’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Spanish network, one of the first to be established worldwide and one of the largest, currently comprises more than 1,875 participating organisations. As the only organisation with a mandate from the United Nations to promote corporate sustainability, it works to accelerate the transformation of organisations towards more responsible, sustainable and inclusive management models, contributing to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development.

FCC launches the fourth edition of the Do you watch or Take part? photography contest

To mark Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Week, the FCC Group has launched the fourth edition of its international photography contest ‘Do you watch or Take part?’, an initiative that will run from 21 September until 2 October.

The campaign aims to foster the company’s employees’ commitment to the SDGs through photography, connecting people via a call to action to promote an end to poverty, the protection of the planet, the reduction of inequalities and the improvement of people’s lives and prospects around the world.

In this fourth edition, the competition is introducing a new way to take part. FCC employees can submit their photographs via the form available on internal channels. The company will then share the images as stories on its official Instagram profile, tagging the participant and @pactomundial, and adding them to its highlighted stories.

The three photographs that receive the most ‘likes’ on the FCC Group’s official account during the competition period will win the prizes for this edition.

Ongoing commitment to the 2030 Agenda

As a leading international provider of public services, operating in more than 25 countries and with a team of over 72,000 professionals, FCC remains committed to designing, delivering and managing environmental services, integrated water cycle management, the construction of major infrastructure projects to improve citizens’ quality of life, and the development of concession-based projects in an efficient and sustainable manner. Within this framework, the company is committed to continuously addressing the challenge posed by the 2030 Agenda and to embracing the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals as its own, constantly seeking and promoting new initiatives.

The FCC Group’s Sustainability Report reflects its commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainable development. Through its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) approach, the company responds to the growing demands of its stakeholders, drives social innovation and the green transition, and actively contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.

Furthermore, FCC has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 7 May 2007, the world’s largest partnership for corporate sustainability. Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in 2015, the company has worked to align its corporate management with these Goals, identifying new business opportunities, strengthening relationships with its stakeholders and promoting sustainable solutions, thereby reaffirming its commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with key international initiatives.

FCC Construccion Australia (FCC), in partnership with Ecove, has been awarded the Sydney Olympic Park Integrated Station Development Precinct (ISDP), delivered as part of the Sydney Metro West project.

The project will deliver a new underground metro station alongside a broader precinct development at Sydney Olympic Park, one of the city's most significant residential, employment, sporting and events destinations. Beyond the station itself, the works will include public domain upgrades, station precinct development and integration with the wider Sydney Metro West rail network.

As Station Contractor, FCC Construccion Australia with its partners, will lead the design and delivery of the station and surrounding precinct, working closely with Sydney Metro and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority throughout design, construction, testing and commissioning. The award reflects FCC's growing presence across major Australian infrastructure, building on the company's international metro experience together with Ecove's deep and longstanding local knowledge of the Sydney Olympic Park precinct.

The project will also deliver lasting benefits for the local community, including local jobs, workforce development opportunities and ongoing engagement with residents and businesses throughout delivery.

FCC Construccion Australia is excited and looks forward to working with Sydney Metro to deliver a station and precinct that supports the continued growth of Sydney Olympic Park as a major sporting, events, residential and employment destination.

FCC Construcción completes the Pont de la Memoria, the former bridge in Picanya that was destroyed during the DANA

FCC Construcción has completed the Pont de la Memoria, the former bridge in the municipality of Picanya that was destroyed during the DANA of 2024. The new structure, which has been in service since 29 July, not only restores an essential link for the municipality but also serves as a permanent tribute to the victims and to those who helped with the recovery efforts following the disaster.

The new bridge retains its original location but has been designed to offer greater resistance to future flash floods. It features two lanes for vehicles, pavements for pedestrians and a two-way cycle lane, as well as a much more robust structure, founded on concrete piles anchored at great depth and designed to withstand extreme weather events.

The reconstruction of the bridge has involved an investment of 5.6 million, funded by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility as part of the plan to rebuild infrastructure damaged by the DANA in the province of Valencia. As well as improving structural safety, the project has increased the ravine’s drainage capacity by setting the abutments back and incorporating a hydrodynamic design intended to facilitate the flow of water during periods of heavy flooding.

The bridge deck was constructed directly on site using a portal-type falsework (a temporary steel structure) comprising three spans of up to 12 metres, which facilitates the flow of water through the riverbed. The material used is prestressed concrete, with a hydrodynamic curved cross-section 1.50 metres deep, which reduces the weight of the structure without compromising its strength. As for the piers, they have a slender, elliptical shape oriented in the direction of the water flow, which helps to reduce the pressure exerted by the water during floods.

Meanwhile, the piers and the bridge abutments are founded on large concrete piles, 1.20 metres in diameter, anchored deep into the ground. Furthermore, the structural design better distributes the loads borne by the bridge and, together with the shape of its piers, provides it with greater stability and strength against future river floods. The deck is 13.15 metres wide, comprising 6.50 metres for vehicular traffic, 2.40 metres for a two-way cycle lane and a further 3 metres for pavements, plus the space required for the various side barriers on the bridge and for separating vehicular traffic from the cycle lane.

In addition, FCC Construcción has installed and donated the monument ‘Lágrimas que abrazan’, a work by the artist José María Piñero.
The sculpture depicts two hands joined by thousands of droplets, symbolising both rain and tears, and was created with a threefold purpose: to commemorate the local residents, to express gratitude for the help provided by individuals, institutions and organisations during the emergency, and to acknowledge the efforts of all the municipalities affected by the storm to get back on their feet. The sculpture is situated at a viewing point built above the Poyo ravine.
