Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, Chair of the FCC Group, has been awarded the Special Recognition Award for Professional Achievement, the highest honour bestowed by the construction industry association, during the 2nd CNC Night Awards, an event held at CaixaForum Madrid that brought together business leaders, institutional representatives and social partners to highlight the strategic role of the construction sector in Spain’s economic and social transformation.
The gala, which was brought to a close by Minister Elma Saiz, highlighted some of the major challenges currently facing the construction sector, ranging from access to housing and infrastructure to sustainability, digitalisation and job creation.
In addition to the president of the CNC, Pedro Fernández Alén, the event was also attended by business representatives such as Miguel Garrido, first vice-president of the CEOE and president of the CEIM, as well as executives and professionals linked to a sector considered essential for the country’s economic future.
A life dedicated to shaping the future of the sector
One of the most moving moments of the evening came when Esther Alcocer Koplowitz was presented with the Special Award for Professional Achievement. This is an extraordinary honour awarded directly by the jury outside the ten official award categories and reserved for figures whose contribution has had a decisive impact on the sector.
For decades, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz’s career has been closely linked to the development and consolidation of a business venture that has successfully adapted to the needs of each era, contributing to the growth of cities and the provision of essential services.
A law graduate with a qualification in Senior Business Management from IESE Madrid, she has chaired the FCC Group since January 2013 and sits on the Board of Directors, as well as actively participating in various executive and appointments committees. Her experience also extends to other national and international boards of directors and to numerous cultural, social and economic organisations.
Awards also for talent, innovation and corporate commitment
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to the sector’s best business and professional initiatives across a further eleven categories. Among the winners were Madrid World Capital (MWCC), recognised for the best public administration initiative, and Ferrovial Construction, which received an award for its digital transformation initiative aimed at business development.
TORRESCAMARA was also recognised for its technological initiative promoting environmental benefits, Alfredo Boto Hervás for his work in communications to raise the profile and recognition of the sector, and CITANIAS for its commitment to job creation.
The jury also recognised COMSA Corporación for its management of generational succession and as a family business, LANTANIA for its international activity, and Abaigar Promoción y Construcción for its work in promoting women’s access to the sector.
The awards also recognised OHLA Group for its projects to restore and conserve historical and artistic heritage, COTS I CLARET for its initiatives to attract young talent, and TECOZAM for its innovation in products, machinery and auxiliary equipment.
With this second edition, La Noche CNC consolidates its position as one of the sector’s major annual events and as a platform for recognising the talent, innovation and commitment of the companies and professionals driving the Spanish construction industry.
